Reiki Course for Sharjah Residents: How to Learn Online Around Work and Commute

A practical guide for Sharjah residents who want to learn reiki online: how the levels work, how to fit study around the commute, and how to practise at home.

If you live in Sharjah and want to learn reiki, an online course is often the easiest route: you study the hand positions, the levels and the self-practice from home, with live guidance on video, and skip the drive into Dubai. Dr S Pujah teaches reiki online, so Sharjah residents can complete the course fully from home.

Sharjah is home to many families and professionals who work in Dubai and live across the border for more space and calmer neighbourhoods. The trade-off is time on the road. For anyone thinking about a career in healing, or simply wanting a calming daily practice, that commute is often the reason a course never starts. Learning online removes that barrier.

What a reiki course covers

Reiki is a gentle, hands-on relaxation practice from Japan. Training is usually taught in levels:

  • Level 1 focuses on self-practice: the basic hand positions, breathing and a daily routine for yourself.
  • Level 2 builds on that with symbols, distance practice and sessions for family and friends.
  • Advanced levels deepen personal practice and, for those who wish, prepare you to teach or to offer sessions professionally.

Each level combines short teaching, guided practice and time to ask questions. You receive notes to keep and a practice plan for the weeks after the class.

Reiki is a complementary relaxation practice. It is not medical training, and it does not diagnose or treat illness.

Why online works well for Sharjah residents

A few things about life in Sharjah make online study a natural fit:

  • The commute. Traffic between Sharjah and Dubai at peak hours can turn a short distance into a long drive. Online classes give that time back to you.
  • Family weekends. Sharjah's government sector works a four-day week, so many households have a long weekend. A Friday or Saturday morning class can fit neatly around family time.
  • Apartment living. Many Sharjah residents live in apartments in areas such as Al Nahda, Al Majaz and Al Khan. Reiki needs very little space: a chair, a bed or a mat in a quiet corner is enough.

Fitting reiki study into a busy week

The biggest question most students ask is how to keep going once the class ends. Here is a simple weekly rhythm that works for commuters:

  1. Morning, 10 minutes. A short self-practice before you leave home, using three or four hand positions.
  2. Evening, 10 minutes. A calming routine before sleep, especially after a long drive.
  3. Weekend, 30 minutes. A full self-session, plus time to review your notes or practise with a family member who is happy to join.

On days when the drive home from Dubai runs late, keep it to just two hand positions rather than skipping practice altogether. Consistency matters more than length.

Keep a simple journal of how you feel before and after each practice. Over a few weeks it shows your progress far more clearly than memory.

What you need before your first online class

Online reiki classes are simple to set up. Before your first session, have these ready:

  • a laptop or tablet on a stable surface, with the camera able to show your hands and upper body;
  • a quiet room where you will not be interrupted for the length of the class;
  • a comfortable chair or a mat, a cushion and a glass of water;
  • a notebook for the hand positions and your practice journal.

Join a few minutes early to check sound and video. If you share an apartment with family, let them know the class time so the room stays calm. Many Sharjah students find that early weekend mornings are the quietest time at home, before the day gets busy.

Reiki as a path to a healing career

Some students start reiki for themselves and later want to offer sessions or combine it with other skills. If that is your plan, it helps to build in steps: complete the levels, log your practice hours, and add a second skill that suits your interests, such as tarot for reflection, vastu for spaces, numerology for patterns or aromatherapy for scent. All of these are taught on learn.spujah.com.

If you are not sure which path suits you, the quizzes on spujah.com/quizzes can help you reflect before you choose.

Choosing a reiki teacher

Whoever you study with, look for a clear structure across levels, live time for questions, written notes, practice support after the class and honest language about what reiki is and is not. Be cautious of anyone who promises cures. A good course leaves you with a calm daily practice you can keep for years.

Dr S Pujah works with students in person in Dubai, and online across Sharjah, the rest of the UAE, the GCC and worldwide, drawing on 12+ years of practice.
