Healing Courses in Jumeirah, Dubai: Which Course Should You Start With?
Reiki, tarot, vastu, numerology, astrology, aromatherapy or chakra study? A chooser guide for Jumeirah learners deciding where to begin, as a hobby or a career path.
By Dr S Pujah

Among the healing courses Jumeirah residents can join, the best first course is the one you will use every day: reiki or chakra study for a personal routine, tarot or numerology for reflection, vastu for your home, aromatherapy for the senses, astrology for long study. Start with one, as a hobby, and decide about a career later.
Dr S Pujah works with clients in person in Jumeirah, Dubai, and online across Abu Dhabi, the GCC and Singapore. The question I hear most from this neighbourhood is a simple one: there are seven kinds of course on the page, so which comes first?
Start with what you want the course to do
Course names tell you the subject. They do not tell you what your week will look like once you begin. So I ask new students one question before anything else: what do you want to be doing in three months that you are not doing now?
- "I want a quiet daily routine for myself." Look at reiki or chakra courses.
- "I want a tool for thinking through decisions." Look at tarot or numerology.
- "I want to understand my home and how I use it." Look at vastu.
- "I want something practical and sensory." Look at aromatherapy.
- "I want a deep subject I can study for years." Look at astrology.
None of these is a higher or lower starting point. They are different doors into the same house.
The healing courses Jumeirah learners ask about most
Here is how I describe each family to someone who has never studied any of them. All are taught as practices and traditions for routine, reflection and wellbeing, not as certain predictions and not as a replacement for professional advice.
- Reiki. A hands-on practice learned in levels, beginning with self-practice. It suits people who want a short, repeatable daily routine and are happy to learn by doing.
- Chakra courses. A framework from yogic tradition for paying attention to different areas of life, usually studied with breath, attention and simple exercises. A gentle first course that pairs naturally with reiki or aromatherapy.
- Tarot. Seventy-eight cards, each with a set of meanings, used as prompts for reflection and conversation. It suits people who like stories, images and asking better questions.
- Numerology. The study of numbers drawn from names and birth dates. Compact, structured and quick to begin, which makes it a comfortable first subject for analytical minds.
- Astrology. The study of the birth chart: planets, signs and houses. Rich and rewarding, but the largest body of knowledge on this list, so expect a longer road.
- Vastu. The traditional Indian approach to layout, direction and the use of space. It suits homeowners, people about to move, and anyone working with interiors or property.
- Aromatherapy. Learning about essential oils, blending and safe everyday use for scent and atmosphere at home. The most hands-on subject here, and an easy one to share with family.
Hobby or career: decide this early
Both are good reasons to study. They simply lead to different choices.
If it is a hobby, choose by enjoyment. Pick the subject you are curious enough to practise on an ordinary Tuesday. One beginner course is plenty, and you are free to stop at the level where it has become part of your life.
If you are thinking of a career, choose by depth and by the people you want to work with. Plan for more than one level in a single subject before adding a second, set aside time for logged practice, and read carefully what a certificate does and does not represent. A certificate shows what you studied. Skill, ethics and a steady client base come from practice over time, and no course can promise you an income.
If you are unsure, begin as a hobbyist. Six months of real practice will tell you more about a possible career than any amount of planning. It is also far easier to turn a loved hobby into work than to turn a qualification you never use into a passion.
Good first courses, and good second ones
Some subjects are easier to enter cold. In my experience, these make comfortable starting points:
- Reiki at the first level, because the whole focus is your own daily practice.
- Chakra study, because the framework is simple and useful in every other subject.
- Numerology, because you can work with your own name and date of birth from the first lesson.
- Tarot, if you enjoy images and are happy to practise a little every day.
Astrology and vastu reward patience. They are perfectly possible as first courses, but go in knowing that there is more to hold in your head before it comes together.
When you are ready for a second course, choose one that talks to the first:
- Reiki with chakra study or aromatherapy.
- Numerology with astrology.
- Vastu with numerology or astrology, for those interested in homes and timing.
- Tarot with almost anything, since it is a reflective tool in its own right.
One rule I hold to: finish one before you start two. Three half-read courses teach less than one that is completed and practised.
Fitting study into life in Jumeirah
Jumeirah has its own pace. School runs, beach mornings, a villa or apartment with a spare corner, and weekends that fill up quickly. That shapes what works.
- Pick a fixed spot at home. A chair, a small table and a notebook are enough.
- Choose a regular slot. Many of my students here prefer the quiet hour after the school run or the early evening.
- Keep sessions short. Twenty to thirty focused minutes, several times a week, is better than a long sitting once a month.
- Tell the household. Study lasts when the people around you know when not to interrupt.
Online lessons mean you can study from home and carry on when you travel. In-person time is there when a conversation or some feedback would help.
Five questions before you enrol
- What level is this course, and does it assume earlier study?
- Is it self-paced or live, and how long do I have access?
- How much practice is expected between lessons?
- What does the certificate state, and who issues it?
- What is the full cost, and what is the refund policy?
The answers for each of my courses are on its own page. Please read them there, because details change and I would rather you rely on the current version than on a blog post.
One more check, for any school you consider: be cautious of courses that promise results for your health, your finances or your relationships. An honest course describes what you will study and practise, and leaves the rest to your own experience.
Where to begin
From Jumeirah 1 to Umm Suqeim, I see students in person in Jumeirah, Dubai, and teach online for learners in Abu Dhabi, across the GCC and in Singapore.
If one subject caught your eye as you read, trust that. Your single next step is to compare all the courses on learn.spujah.com, open the one that matches your reason for studying, and read what it covers before you choose.
Questions people ask
Which healing course is best for a complete beginner in Jumeirah?
There is no single best one, but first-level reiki, chakra study, numerology and tarot are the most comfortable starting points because you can practise from the first lessons. Choose the subject you are curious enough to practise several times a week. Jumeirah students can study online from home and should check each course page for current details.
Can I take more than one course at the same time?
You can, but I advise against it at the start. Each subject needs regular practice to settle, and dividing your attention usually means neither is finished. Complete one beginner course, practise it for a few weeks, then add a second that complements it, such as chakra study after reiki or astrology after numerology.
Can these courses lead to a career?
They can be a starting point. Working as a practitioner usually takes several levels of study in one subject, plenty of logged practice and clear ethics about what you offer. A certificate shows what you studied; it does not promise clients or income. Many people begin as hobbyists and decide after six months of steady practice.
